A group of walkers wondering

Some dulcet sounds

Lead us to the ones who are singing there
Let’s take this path to the unknown
See who’s hiding in the fog”
Lost and blind in the fog they carry on
Following the hidden forest trail
Far beyond the misty veil
Into the heart of woods
Where that sweet music’s born
Though this woodland seemed to be forlorn
Come here, my friends, and see what`s happening
Believe it is not a dream
See the Elves dancing among the trees
Singing in the autumn mists

With thick pale fog slowly covering the ground
Blinded and wondering and lost we kept on wandering
Until just by chance we got into the elven land

Leaving the night behind
Into daylight they ride
Guarding their homeland with pride
No one can hide from their sight
Night by night and day by day
They keep all strangers away
Under old, wise elms
In woods deep, timeless
Lies a hidden realm
In forest silence
Elven riders on
Silver unicorns
Watch each blade of grass
They let no stranger pass
No one gets past the guards
Leaving daylight behind
Into the night they ride
Guarding their homeland with pride
No one can hide from their sight
Night by night and day by day
They keep all strangers away
Though it happened once
On their festive day
Distraction of the guards
And utter disarray
When dragons in the sky
Beasts from afar
Appeared above the elms
Lost in the mist we entered the land of Elves
Unseen, unfelt
What a quaint coincidence
Leaving the night behind
Into daylight they ride
Guarding their homeland with pride
And we escaped from their sight
Night by night and day by day
We walk through their marvellous land
And time is fast running away
Yet much longer shall we stay

Behold the King of Elvenkind
His Majesty’s approaching our stunned company
And watching our confusion with a sad smile
“I see strange times bring strangers together
So, welcome back, our brothers lost and found”
He told us the Elves had known some Men before
Who’d entered their realm to settle in the north
Friends they’d been, sharing passion for the arts
And love for the earth that keeps us all alive
But as the years went by
The human minds
Got bored and tired
Of peaceful life
With heavy hearts
We said good bye
These friends of ours
Had proven far from wise
Those with short lives cannot really see
The value of what has lasted here for centuries
Blinded by their mutual mindless hate
They will never truly understand
Will we ever understand?
We, the Men today, are not like those the elves recall
In their poetry and songs from the ancient times
“Where the ego rules, there the old wisdom’s forgotten
No sense remains, no respect for nature, for life”
And now all those tribes of Men they used to know
Appear to be dying in their pointless wars
These creatures escaping from their northern homes
Appear to have nowhere to live anymore
Thus, my friends
I must leave
As it seems
My realm bleeds
A foolish war’s on
Come with me
You will see
With your own
Eyes what they have done
Those with short lives cannot really see
The value of what has lasted here for centuries
Blinded by their mutual mindless hate
They will never truly understand
Will we ever understand?
So here we are on the road
With the king’s brotherhood
Wandering, discovering
The hidden elven world
Their time is slowly passing
They’re not to remain for long
Yet we will stay to retell
What we’ve seen and heard

Shade of despair

There`s a lake far away
When the night meets the day
A pair of great red eyes opens
At the touch of the Sun
With belief and with hope
He awakes every morn
But soon his sadness takes over
Then one more tear falls down
Far away over the Rainbow Hills they flew
Silhouettes against the bright Moon
To find a new homeland where no people dwell
Having by men been chased away
From an egg left behind
That had never been found
In the cave`s darkest corner
Their youngest hatched out
With his just opened eyes
He watched his relatives fly
He tried to follow the swarm
But was not strong enough
Time runs, decades pass by
Seem like centuries to the lonely ones
The last of his kind still watches the sky
Knowing that his hope dies last
All alone in his cave
The young dragon remained
Trusting soon they’d return
To their land, now dead and black
But years went on, then one day
Gloomy doubts crept to stay
And the question appeared
Will they ever come back
Far away over the lands of Siwer cold
They`d flown to find a new home
Had they found? Had they died? How could he know at all
His first tear of loneliness was shed that morn
There`s a lake in the north
It has spread a lot thenceforth
And still it`s growing, still extending
More and more, on and on
The water is salt, unbelievably cold
And into the lake every morning
One more teardrop falls
Time runs, decades pass by
Seem like centuries to the lonely ones
The last of his kind still watches the sky
Knowing that his hope dies last
Far away over the lake of tears that he cries
Never will he dare to fly
For fear rules his mind and fear holds his wings
Of losing hope, the only thing
That remains
The last of his kind forever watches the sky
